Aim/Policy 
The IBC synthesis core facility (SCF) provides a streamlined service to make tailor-made compounds of biochemical interest. With the integration of all the chemical synthesis-related knowledge, automated peptide/glycan synthesizer, MPLC/HPLC purification system, and instruments for characterization including NMR, MS spectrometers, and Polarimeter, we enable efficient synthesis for the state-of-the-art bio-molecules what you precisely desire to test your biology system. 
In addition, the SCF train people with high-end instruments such as HPLC/Polarimeter. Of course, we alternatively provide operator-assisted services to collect the data what you need on these instruments.

Process your cases (Tailor-made service synthesis) 
We initiate your case via the compound structure you provide/propose. We start with a retrosynthetic analysis to dissect the target of interest into multiple commercially accessible building blocks and pick the most economic synthetic route to make the quotes that list everything in detail including the rate of chemicals, lab consumables, disposable columns for purification , characterization fee, and the rate of labor. 
When your case is processed, we will regularly keep you updated with the data of fully characterized compounds/intermediates. Once the case is complete, we will provide you with your customized compounds and a data sheet including assigned NMR and MS spectra, and the info of solubility which is usually required for further biological examinations.

1. CEM LibertyBlue® microwave peptide synthesizer

The Liberty Blue Microwave Peptide Synthesizer is an instrument developed by CEM of the United States for peptide synthesis. This microwave peptide synthesizer is characterized by its faster reaction time, higher yield, and fewer reagents, than general room-temperature synthesizers. Normally, a 30-40-mer peptide can be finished within 3 h and save more than half the usage of DMF compared with the conventional RT synthesizer. We have the highest record to synthesize an 86-mer peptide.

2. WATERS e2695 Alliance HPLC

High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), which is the single biggest chromatography technique essential to most laboratories, is a technique in analytical chemistry used to separate, identify, and quantify each component in a mixture. 
HPLC employs the features that different components in a mixture have different detention times in columns as a result of distinct partition coefficients for static and dynamic phases, to isolate components so as to gain single pure material. According to the polarities between a static liquid phase and fluid solvent, the chromatography can be normal phase chromatography useful for polar materials, and reverse phase chromatography useful for non-polar materials. 
Recently, it becomes (even) more popular in establishing biological assays using HPLC. We have 4 HPLCs and 2 of them are open to IBC-licensed users. It is highly suggested to take the training (hands-on included) to get the license and handle samples by yourself. Of course, it is more than welcome to use our operation-assisted service as well. 
This WATERS e2695 is equipped with 4-channel solvent pump system, column heater, auto-sampler, fraction collector, WATERS 2998 Photodiode Array (PDA) detector and WATERS 2475 fluorescence detectors HPLC. For now, it was set up for sample separation in normal phase conditions.

3. Shimadzu Prominence-I LC-2030 C plus HPLC

4. JASCO P-2000 Polarimeter

Chemical substances are usually optically active, and polarized light will rotate either to the left or right when passed through these substances. The amount by which the light is rotated is known as the angle of rotation. Polarimeter is a scientific instrument used to measure the angle of rotation caused by passing polarized light through an optically active substance. It is a highly versatile instrument for research applications as well as for quality control work. 
The newly-installed polarimeter (JASCO P-2000, since 2021) is quite helpful to get stable results because of the pre-equipped temperature-controller, PTC-262 to avoid unnecessary fluctuation. The measured limit can be as low as 1 mg sample in 1 mL corresponding solvent.
